Project Overview
An independent filmmaker required a mural as a prop for their production. The main character in the film is an artist with synesthesia, depicted painting this mural during key scenes.
Design Concept
I was tasked with creating a mural that visually represents synesthesia—a condition where senses can stimulate each other, causing individuals to experience phenomena like tasting colors or smelling sounds. The mural had to be painted on a maneuverable tarp for filming purposes.
Impact and Community Response
The director and crew were impressed with the mural, believing it aligned perfectly with the storyline and enhanced the visual narrative of synesthesia.
Conclusion
Creating a visually compelling depiction of synesthesia was essential for the film’s authenticity. The mural not only satisfied the artistic vision of the production but also served as a functional prop that could be easily maneuvered and set up on set.
